Atlantis provides high quality medical internships for students in health fields. Atlantis Fellows shadow doctors in Europe or Latin America for approximately 25 hours per week. They gain practical insight into the field of health and a meaningful perspective of healthcare as a call to service. Weekly excursions provide memorable opportunities to engage with the local culture.
Our mission is to equip the next generation of global medical leaders to pursue their callings passionately. We want every Fellowship program we run to reflect a deep concern for ethical solidity, educational value and innovative, cutting-edge thinking.
Our vision is to become the world’s leading healthcare education company by connecting students, universities, hospitals, healthcare professionals, and public healthcare administrators around a common cause of improving healthcare training and education. We believe that the fastest and best way to improve global patient care is to promote knowledge-sharing and best practices across borders, improving communication channels across languages, cultures, and geographic divides, with the ultimate goal of better serving those in need: the sick, the injured, and all those in need of physical or mental care.
Atlantis (formerly The Atlantis Project) was founded in 2007 by João Toste and has grown over the past decade into one of America’s leading global healthcare education organizations.
See what former Atlantis Fellows have to say about our programs below:
“I’ve worked as an EMT for almost 3 years and I still got more experience from 5 weeks at la Hospital del Río. Outside of the hospital, I got to experience a whole new world…”
David Ceraolo, Atlantis Fellow ‘17
“It was a challenging yet enriching experience for me, as I was able to learn more about myself and be reminded why I want to become a doctor. I was also able to connect with health professionals cross culturally…”
Miriam Agamah, Atlantis Fellow ‘17
